Surviving against all odds is what Ntakzo is about

Ntokozo'Ntakzo'Magubane. Photo: supplied.

There are always tests, trials and tribulations we all go through, sometimes they change our lives forever, but sometimes they are only meant to happen for you to inspire others. You have to go through a test to have a testimony. The living testimony I am proud to talk about today is Ntokozo 'Ntakzo' Magubane.

Ntakzo is a young talented artist from Zithobeni, a small township in Bronkhorstspruit outside Pretoria. He defines himself as a humble, patient and understanding guy. He hustled a lot as a DJ, until he decided to open his own entertainment company and named it Estradini Entertainment, he also opened a car wash and a shisanyama called Zer013.

Well we know that life doesn't always go our way, as God also has his plans. On the 24th of February 2014, this father of one was from a deejaying gig in Witbank. He and his friend went to Pretoria to drop off a girl they went parting with. On their way back, they got involved in a terrible car accident that took place in Hatfield, Pretoria. On that day he lost his friend and he ended up in hospital, stayed in ICU for almost four months, 53 days in high care and was then sent to the rehab.

Ntakzo says he remembers every little detail about this accident as if it happened yesterday, " it wasn't fun at all, I almost died there. It's a miracle that I survived" he said. He says it pained him a lot to learn that his legs won't function as they used to, he was worried about his businesses and how he was going to do the " dance".

There was a time where Ntakzo lost his memory, he said : I couldn't even recognise my own mother, there is nothing as painful as that". He was in a wheelchair and needed help in everything, I mean everything he had to do, from going to the bathroom, making food, bathing and moving around the house. His legs had a metal rod, and that made him feel as if he'd lost all the respect and dignity he had, " I felt so much useless" sadly said Ntakzo.

He continued to say some of the people who were close to him; wanted nothing to do with him; some kicked him aside like a pice of garbage, and that made him feel like he had lost a voice and a say in his own life. He says some of them are only coming back now that he has healed and seems to be back on his feet, " I am talking about people who didn't want me near them" he said.

He is most grateful to his mother and siblings for treating him like a King. The lesson he has learnt from the accident is that: " Some of the things happen as a wake up call from God; not as punishment".  Ntakzo says his life has changed a lot after the accident, he learnt to be more humble; got off his high horse; learnt to respect people even more and to be even nicer, the accident also revealed to him his true friends.

His mom, Ntombikayise Magubane ( 45) says she never thought that her son would get involved in a car accident. She says it was so hard on her and the family the day when they received the sad news. She sadly said that she never thought that Ntakzo was going to live to see another day, " From day one when I saw him at the hospital I never thought my son was going to live again" she said.

She says their home was so cold and quiet without the loud Ntakzo as they would make noise, reprimand one another and laugh whenever Ntakzo was around. This supportive mother continued to say even the nurses found it hard to tell them that there was no faith that Ntakzo could live, " My only my prayer to God was that let his will be done" she said.

Ntakzo's mom sees what happened to her son as as a reminder that God is still alive and it somehow revived her faith in God. Well we know that there are always people who have negative things to say. Ntakzo's mom says there are people who would go visit her son at the hospital and come back only to spread rumous that there is no chance her son was going to make it, to explain how that made her feel, she said : " those things would hurt me so bad, but I still lifted my head high and trusted in the Lord".

The 29 year old Ntakzo said that he is planning to revive his businesses now that he back on his feet. This guy's dedication and enthusiasm made him who he is today. Some of the things are just a miracle, your own personal story; when you look back at them, you realise that it was not just a coincidence, but instead were the hand of God.

Just remember that for every ying there is a yang, for every head there is a tail, and for every negative the is a positive. I hope this wonderful work of God inspires you to do better in life, stop feeling sorry for yourself, get out of your comfort zone and stop expecting other people c to feel pity for you. There is always a light at the wnd of the tunnel.

There gou have it friends, till the next blog...vuka ubangene, ungagezi mfana bangene unuka lol!

Life goes on- Ntokozo Magubane

Ntokozo 'Ntakzo' Magubane. Photo: supplied
Ntokozo 'Ntakzo' Magubane is a 29 year old who hails from a small township, Zithobeni in Bronkhorstspruit, just outside Pretoria.

Good things come to those who wake up, grind and work hard to achieve their goals. As they say: never let your past determine your future, Zithobeni residents got to witness that saying through Ntakzo's life.

This talented young man shot his first ever music video today, for his single ' life goes on' taken from his album that was recorded back in 2013. The album has 10 tracks, and 'life goes on' was just a bonus track. He wrote this track not knowing that one day it is going to be his motivation to do better in life.

Behind the scenes of Ntakzo's music video shoot

In 2014 Ntakzo got involved in a car accident that could have taken his life, but he made it, " I survived because God knew that I had a purpose to fulfill" he said. The music video is based on what has happened in his life and how he managed to pick up the pieces and move on.

I got to speak to one of the people who came to support this initiative, and Skhumba La Masango, author of Do More And Talk Less Clever said : " Many people who have made mistakes in life fake perfection, I would like to advice Ntakzo to never fake perfection" .

Behind the scenes of Ntakzo's music video shoot

Masango said he is very much happy for Ntakzo got to shoot his first music video which is something he has always dreamt of achieving. " What Ntakzo did, shows that Zithobeni still has people who are talented" said Masango.

To know when is the music video coming out, stay tuned on my blog.

Till the next blog, Vuka Ubangene!

Ladies and gentlemen your best news reader

Still looking at the winners of the Mpumalanga Sunshine Media Awards that took place of Saturday at the Middelburg Banquet hall. I bring to you Beauty Selala, your best news reader. Trust me I know she is

1. Did you expect to be awarded the best news reader? has it sunk in yet?

Honestly speaking I was expecting it because I prayed about it a lot and people who are close to me have been telling me how good I am in what I do and you know what they say, surrounding yourself with positive people helps one to be focused and positive about life as well....I actually started preparing my thank you speech a day after I emailed my entry form to take part in these wards and that was in July if I'm not mistaken..Has it sunk in yet? I don't think so because I still keep on checking out my pics on facebook so I will probably get over the excitement at the end of the week.

2. What does winning this award mean to you?

It means I have the potential to achieve my ultimate goal which is working for a national radio station and this award will help open doors for me and it has definitely boosted my self confidence.

3. When looking at your award, which song comes into your mind?

I was here by Beyonce....because  I would like to believe that I have made a difference and this world will one day see that I was here.

4. Campaigning is not fun at all, how did you do it?

Hahaha I was forced to campaign by my friends and family and honestly speaking I really did not enjoy doing it because I'm not an outspoken individual, well that is what I would like to believe.

5. What is your biggest dream as a newsreader?

I would like to see myself working as a news anchor for Jacaranda FM and also get to groom other people who are interested in joining this industry because sometimes it becomes a challenge to make it in this competitive industry if you don't have a mentor.

6.  Have we started celebrating yet?

I have not had the time to celebrate hey, my work has been keeping me busy but if there's anyone out there who wants to spoil me rotten I'm game.

7. Where to from now for Beauty Selala?

The hustle continues...I'm gonna continue working hard to a point where I will not have to introduce myself when I walk into any building in the country.

Congratulations girl, keep on slaying and working hard...

There you have it bo babes abathanda u Beauty Selala, till the next blog take care. Vuka ubangene!

Nowly and DJ Lucco of Unleashed Siblings. Photo: Supplied

One of Africa’s next top DJ’s, Unleashed Siblings is a House music duo, Lucky Sithole (DJ lucco) & Noluthando Zwane (nowly); are from a small township called Zithobeni situated in Bronkhorstspruit. They are not only DJ’s but they produce and do vocals for some of their songs.

Their journey started in 2009 when DJ Lucco (26) decided to approach Nowly (23) and pitched an idea to him and since then, the Unleashed Siblings have been making hits after hits. In 2010 they released ‘Take it back’ which featured Leenah, it was such a nice hit and people are still dancing to it till this day. The previous year Unleashed Siblings walked away with the song of the year award at the Mpumalanga Sunshine Media Awards with the very same song ‘Take it back’

Nothing can ever stand in your way when you are truly dedicated in what you do, this group never had a proper studio when they started, but that was never an issue, in fact they worked hard. “We used to record in a shack but we managed to release 7 tracks” said Lucco. It really makes them proud to see old and young people dancing and singing to their songs.
They have recently launched their new single ‘Vuma’ and shot a video. ” The video is play listed in the biggest music video channels, you can name your channel O and Mtv base for now” said Lucco. The track is also available across all the radio stations in South Africa. Unleashed Siblings look up to people like Black Coffee, Oskido, DJ Fresh and Heavy K, these are the people who motivate them to do better. Sal Magazine asked the Unleashed Siblings when South Africans can expect an album, and they said “Possibly next year for we know God is on our side.”

Classic Clasta. Photo: Supplied

Ladies and gents let me introduce to you a voice-over artist, entertainment reporter,a blogger  and content producer for Emalahleni Fm...Classic Clasta! I have met so many young, talented, fun and successful young people, and  Classic Lebo Mashiloane famously known as Classic Clasta happens to be one those. Classic Clasta was born in Johannesburg and raised in Dennilton, Limpopo.

Growing up was fun for him," I grew up as an energetic young boy who always had the passion of being someone influential in the community" he said. He continued to say another thing that made his childhood awesome was the place he grew up in, it was filled with humanity, love and support from the elders. He is also passionate about education, Classic Clasta is a Journalism and NEMISA Radio Production graduate. Yabona I always thought I was tall until I met this guy, lol.Clasta was raised by a single mother who basically thought him everything he knows today, that is respect, morals and being free spirited, and he is a very proud Mama's boy emdala engaka. He defines himself as crazy hustler, a guy who loves meeting and making new friends.

We all have something that keeps us motivated, the thing that makes you wake up everyday and want to make a difference. So, I wanted what motivates Classic Clasta and he said " Doing a good job and achieving the desired end result is my primary motivation". Clata said that he is actually motivated by the buzz of working in the entertainment industry. He continued to say " It's very rewarding working closely with others who share the same common goal".

This wonderful young and talented guy is not just a dreamer, he dreams big and he works hard. His dreams include being a media mogul, opening an Arts academy and bursary fund for underprivileged hardworking youth. The people that deeply influence him in life are: Sunday Sun's entertainment journalist Dimakatso Motau, Sunday World's journalist Buchule RabaTats Nkonzo, Tol A$$ Mo and his Emalahleni Fm colleagues.

The most challenging time he has ever faced in his life was being unemployed, he describes it as " the most painful journey I don't wish for anyone". Through that difficult time, Classic Clasta learnt and mastered the art of being patient and accepting that it was not his time. " God listens to our prayers and prepares as well as tests for our readiness to the prayers we send to him" he said. Clasta is feels very blessed when he looks at his life right now, he even said " I must say by the time the Almighty answered my devotions, I was highly equipped, and look at God now"...Amen brother!

His very first job was an unpaid internship at The Times newspaper, he needed the job so he could graduate for his Diploma in Journalism. Straight after that, Clasta worked as an entertainment journalist for the Sowetan newspaper. This 25 year old says his big achivements in life that are very close to his heart include being a judge for the 19th annual MTN South African Music Awards under " Best Kwaito Album" in 2013, interviewing Africa's biggest names in the entertainment industry: Black Coffee, D'Banj, DJ Mahoota, Soul brothers and Yvonne Chaka Chaka among others, joining Emalahleni Fm.
Clasta's writting was published in top publications and websites including: trufm.co.za, gbooza.com, filmcontact.co.za, sowetanlive.co.za, sapressonline.com and dispatchlive.co.za.

" To be honest, it is very bright, I need shades" said Clasta referring to his future. Before 3021 he wants to be an MC, brand publicist, join a commercial radio, have an entertainment website and own a telecommunication company. It is possible hey, remember Nelson Mandela once said " It seems impossible until it is done".

To motivate all the young people embarking on the same journey as his, Classic Clasta said " Be prepared and develop a thick skin because people will take advantage of you in a good or bad way" he continued to say not everyone in your life will be interested in walking beside you as you embark on the journey, but just do what makes you happy.

Ntokozo Nhlapho: A rising star

Ntokozo Nhlapho is an energetic, bubbly and talented beautician and model. She was born and bred in Vlaklaagte no2, Mpumalanga. Nhlapho defines herself as a very calm and collected young lady, and yes i definitely agree. This 22 year old owns a mobile salon named Beauty and Projects, she basically sells and promotes beauty products. What is so much great about Beauty and Projects is that even if you do not feel like getting out of your house, it follows you in your home where you are most comfortable and pamper you at a calculated rate. " I can do makeup and hair which leaves a room for me to collaborate with a nail artist and many more in the beauty industry, as one cannot master it all" she said.

When explaining how her love for being a beautician started, Nhlapho said " I remember when i was 9 years old, it was me and my doll 'Zuko' who had a long brown curly hair, we used to hang out at sis Thoko's salon". This is proof that 'Zuko' played a very big role in helping her love working with people's hair. This young phenomenal woman continued to say she would take the remaining hairpieces that sis Thoko used on her clients and use them to plait her doll, and eventually sis Thoko allowed her to help at the salon with cutting ends after plaiting her clients," that is when my passion for hair grew even fonder and she( sis Thoko) is the inspiration behind it" she added that she has always had the love for business but she just never imagined it venturing into a mobile salon.
Ntokozo Nhlapho working her magic. Photo: Supplied

What is so amazing is that she never went for any professional learning to pursue her career, she is self taught- God given talent. We all have those people or person we look up to, this energetic young lady looks up to people like Clara Banx, Ellenor Ndlovu and Bongi Mlotshwa, there is absolutely do doubt that she is one day going to be great like the women she looks up to.

So i wanted to know how she juggles both her jobs; modeling and beautician, and she said to me modeling gig come after a long time so that gives her ample time to focus on both without any clash. Nhlapho's goal is to give young girls an opportunity to learn everything she knows without any cost- As the saying goes, teach a woman and you teach a nation.

To inspire all the people out there who think that they will never make it in life she said, " If i'm originated from the semi-rural of KwaNdebele and I do what I do outside my place of originality very well, surely where you are from does not determine where you are going and what you are destined for. Chase your dreams.

She is a rising a star, South Africa look out for her.

STOP RACISM AT PRETORIA GIRLS HIGH

I should say that i am actually proud of the young brave girls of Pretoria High School who are demanding that racist practices at the school should end. It is so sad that these girls are being forced to straighten their hair, and they are accussed of conspiring when standing in groups.

Some of the black girls cried when they explained the alleged racism they receive from their white teachers. In the morning, Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi visited the school, and this is what he was told by one of the girls: " I have a natural afro, but a teacher told me I need to comb my hair because it looks like a birds nest," the girls are told to stop making funny noises when they speak in vernacular, like this is so so sad people of God.
" I am truly sorry and I can assure you that it end here. You have my support and I will protect you. Your pain will never again continue for as long as I'm still the MEC in this province" said Lesufi

These pupils should just be left alone, let them rock their afros, like why should they straighten their hair?...maybe they should try telling the white pupils to just have them afros.

Black child continue to rock that afro.

Why are they saying their afro makes the school uniform look 'untidy'? what is actually wrong with braids, dreadlocks and bantu knots?
We salute you black child, young and brave woman.Continue to plant those weaves, do those braids and dreadlocks and only relax your hair when it suits you, not because a white person told you to. I know that these young girls have spoken on behalf of many young girls who face such ' racism' in their schools.

SENZU'MEHLUKO ORGANISATION- A HELPING HAND

Anyone who thinks they are too small to make a difference has never tried to fall asleep with a mosquito in the room- Chistine Todd Whitman

Other young people only think about booze, what is trending and yes they do good only when it benefits them, but thank God we still have the good people who know that no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.

In May 2014, Jacob Tebogo Aphane decided to establish an organisation that will take care of the Children living everyday of their lives without proper clothes to wear. He named the organisation 'Senzu'mehluko-A helping hand'.

He works with other four young people who have the same vision as his,Sphiwe Tshehla, Angel Mbatha, Angel Nkambule and Veronica Lekgwathi. Aphane said he established the organisation because he saw that other young people do not have clothes to wear, that causes them to wear the same clothes the whole week. " The organisation was also established to discourage the burning of unused clothes and to let people know that the clothes they no longer use can help someone out there" he said.

With the help of the community, this team has managed to help families in need and they have also donated clothes to S.T Joseph's in Ekangala section F and D. Senzu'mehluko is only donating with clothes for now, but they are busy planning on giving books that children can read and they clean gardens around Ekangala.

Now we know that in everything we do, there are challenges. Senzu'mehluko faces finance and transport problems, hence they also want to donate to other places outside Ekangala. Their plan is to be able to spread outside the Country, and have their own library in 2026.

"Anyone who wants to help the organisation can freely volunteer and for those who want to donate with clothes can contact us, we will take it from there.People outside Ekangala do wanna help but transportation is our problem" said Aphane.

Visit their facebook page ''Senzu'mehluko' if you wish to donate clothes, books or money.
